The Process
At TANNINS, every artwork begins with discovery. Through an interdisciplinary process that explores the territorial, cultural, and material dimensions of wine, we translate the essence of a place into a lasting visual expression using our proprietary wine-painting technique.

Technique
At the heart of TANNINS lies a proprietary painting process developed through an extensive program of research, experimentation, and technical refinement. What makes this technique unique is its integration of three disciplines that rarely converge: material investigation, traditional fine art practices, and museum-grade conservation methods. Wine is a challenging medium whose natural pigments are inherently delicate and unstable. Through rigorous testing and a systematic process of trial and error, we have developed specialized methods to extract, preserve, and enhance the chromatic qualities of wine while ensuring the long-term stability of the artwork. Drawing from the technical rigor of conservation science and the expressive possibilities of fine art, each painting is created using archival materials and carefully engineered procedures designed to maximize permanence without sacrificing authenticity. The result is a body of work in which wine transcends its conventional role as a beverage and becomes a lasting artistic medium—capable of preserving the identity, character, and story of a place for generations to come.
TANNINS Methodology: Visualizing Terroir
TANNINS develops a visual translation of terroir through an analysis on three complementary scales. Each scale contributes a layer of meaning that, together, constructs a coherent and unique artistic narrative.

Territorial Scale
The Physical Environment
- Landscape
- Geography
- Architecture

Cultural Scale
The Human Component
- Traditions
- Crafts
- Stories

Material Scale
The Technical & Tangible Details
- Processes
- Tools
- Technical Gestures

From Terroir to Cultural Capital
Our projects are developed through a four-stage process: Immersion, Identification, Translation, and Materialization. We begin by understanding the winery's heritage, terroir, and cultural context; identify the stories and values that define its identity; translate those insights into a compelling visual narrative; and ultimately materialize them through artworks and cultural experiences that generate lasting value for the brand.
1. Immersion
Gathering information about the territory, its culture and its processes.
2. Identification
Selection and prioritization of the elements with the greatest identity value.
3. Traslation
Transformation of these elements into a unique visual language.
4. Materialization
Development of a body of work using the same wine as a medium.
